The Kheoni Story: Conscious Skincare Handcrafted by Forest Communities
Bridging Age-Old Wellness Traditions, Clean Beauty and Ecological Restoration
Reversing the Footprint of the Beauty Industry
Every single year, the global cosmetics industry creates millions of tons of chemical waste, destroys ecosystems for palm oil sourcing, and floods our oceans with single-use plastic.
At Kheoni, we refused to be part of the pollution crisis. We believe that personal care shouldn't leave a scar on the earth. That is why we didn't just build a natural skincare brand—we built an active bioregional conservation model designed to bring deep wellness to humans while physically healing the planet.
To counteract the massive deforestation caused by mass-market cosmetic ingredients, we took a piece of depleted land and planted a biodiverse forest completely from scratch, under our non-profit society, WRA. This thriving ecosystem, Keshar Parvat, in central India, serves as our environmental anchor, actively capturing carbon, regenerating native soil, supporting climate action, and reversing industry depletion with every product we create.
Forest Communities, Wildfires and Social Impact
During COVID, we discovered the pristine forests of Kheoni. But our first visit revealed devastating forest fires.
Working closely with tribal and forest-dependent communities, we learned that seasonal Mahua collection often involved burning forest undergrowth for easier flower collection — a practice that supported livelihoods but damaged biodiversity and fragile ecosystems.
One of our earliest efforts was producing Mahua Butter from locally sourced Mahua seeds — an underutilized forest resource that generated higher incomes for local families. We also introduced collection nets beneath Mahua trees, helping communities gather flowers without burning the forest floo
This was the beginning of our realisation that lasting conservation was only possible through alternate, meaningful and sustainable livelihood opportunities linked to standing forests.
Building a Regenerative Beauty & Wellness Brand
Today, Kheoni works with over 60 forest and rural communities across India to create innovative beauty and wellness products rooted in nature.
We focus on zero-waste, chemical-free formulations and sustainable packaging made from biomaterials such as agricultural waste, reclaimed wood, natural textiles, and coir regenerated from temple coconuts.
Our work sits at the intersection of climate action, biodiversity conservation, circular design, rural empowerment, and regenerative beauty.
Handmade, Community-based, Distributed Manufacturing
We do not manufacture our products in heavy industrial factories. Instead, we have developed a distributed, decentralized manufacturing network built entirely around humble women community-based setups.
This system operates in harmony with nature's rhythm: our production cycles are dictated strictly by natural ingredient & botanicals availability, traditional practices, indigenous wellness wisdom and immediate community employment needs.
When you choose our natural skincare formulations, you are supporting a supply chain that never over-exploits wild land. Every raw botanical extract is meticulously harvested, processed through humble village setups, and shipped to your doorstep in 100% minimal, zero-waste, and fully compostable packaging. This ensures our products exit the lifecycle exactly how they entered it—leaving absolutely no toxic footprint in our landfills or oceans.
Rooted in Conservation
Kheoni takes its name from the pristine Kheoni Wildlife Sanctuary, where today 13 tigers roam freely — reflecting years of conservation efforts, reduced forest fires, and healthier ecosystems.
Our tiger-and-leaf logo symbolizes the balance between wildlife protection and mindful living.
As we grow, our mission is to scale globally while deepening positive impact on forests and communities through products that are good for both people and the planet.
These initiatives have improved livelihoods, impacted education and healthcare, and encouraged non-destructive harvesting and long-term forest conservation.
This is beauty that impacts. This is skincare that conserves.
