This wellness-promoting moisturizer is the WORLD'S FIRST IMMUNOCOSMETIC, scientifically proven to stimulate the immune system and recreate a more natural balance; one that’s associated with enhanced skin health, resilience, comfort, and appearance. This balance actively strengthens the barrier function, faster regeneration and repair, reduced redness and irritation, and increased levels of age-defying collagen.
Science Behind it
We all know that modern living can make it hard to get close to nature. But the fact is, without exposure to microbial diversity, the immune system can get out of practice, leaving us prone to the immune-mediated diseases that are common in urban societies.
Our pioneering INGREDIENT, the humus extract, developed at the Universities of Tampere and Helsinki, aims to redress this balance, replicating the microbial diversity of Finnish nature so that its scientifically proven benefits can be shared in our premium skin lotion.
Our Story
We came across the brilliant scientists Aki Sinkkonen and Olli Laitinen in November of 2019 in Finland. They got this idea of "Biodiversity in a bottle" when their boys were playing in the woods on a hiking trip. Looking at their muddy hands and faces - and
knowing the wealth of good it was doing for their immune systems - they wondered if they could bottle this for people in cities.’ So that's what we did.”
Skin acts as a defensive barrier between our body and the environment and has a vital role as an immunological organ. Microbes stimulate our immune response via receptors (called pattern recognition receptors or PRRs). These PRRs influence the levels of important immunological proteins called cytokines. Cytokines affect the growth of cells that help the body’s immune and inflammation responses. An incorrect balance of these will cause malfunctioning of the immune system. In-vitro studies show that the extract reduces the amount of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
Regular use can strengthen the barrier function of the skin in a relatively short time period of three weeks, resulting in higher resilience of skin against stress factors, such as a chemical irritant, used during in vivo study with participants. While creating skin benefits, we are helping to prevent immune-mediated diseases.
